EDITING IS A PLEASURE

After so many years in the "business", and always relying on hired editors to cut my product, I have finally learned to edit myself. What fun!
Years ago, just to make a dissolve happen, we had to use a crayon to indicate the ins and the outs of an edit on film, and then wait to see it for about three days.
Now, with the drag of a cursor, we can actually design our own dissolves.
I look with wonder at young editors who get frustrated by the slowness of "rendering" the latest changes ... what takes them twelve seconds used to take hours.
Anyway, I don't profess to be good yet, but it is a start, and I urge all directors who haven't tried to make their own cuts, to start now.

COMMERCIAL IN BELGIUM

Bizazz Media just finished producing, directing, and writing a commercial in Brussels for a revolutionary pototo chip company. Using both Flemish and French speaking actors, the commercial combined both actual settings and 3D animation. The whole experience was interesting, and although the prices for camera equipment rentals in Belgium were extraordinarily high, the crew was fantastic. We would like to return to Europe, where maturity and experience are appreciated, and the craft service and meals cannot be matched anywhere in this country. All in all, it was a very nice experience.

FIRE AND POLICE

We have just finished a DVD to help recruit minorities ... to increase diversity in the hiring practices of Police and Fire Departments. It seems that attracting minorities to the various agencies is a national problem, and the DVD that we filmed, called IT'S COOL TO BE A COP, with Thurl Bailey reciting a rap song and Bizazz making it into a DVD music vid PSA, is a strong recruiting tool.
It has had a great reaction, and in fact, plays really well to youth groups that might begin to think, after seeing it, that it truly is "cool to be a cop". We need Hispanics and African American officers, so that peers can talk to each other on the street, and solve the problems that come from miscommunication. So now, we at Bizazz are reaching out to other municipalities, and offering our services to make their police and fire departments more diverse, balanced, and effective.

WE WON!!!

Prestigious "business awards" (THE STEVIES) were handed out in New York last week and Bizazz Media won TWO. The first was for OGDEN ..."it's all within reach!", and the second was for T.E.A.M.W.O.R.K., the two DVD set that is about to be released by Enterprise Media about Danica Patrick and the Bobby Rahal-David Letterman team that supports and surrounds her.
It is a thrill to stand in front of eight hundred business people and get recognized for the excellence of our work. We will try harder to get three, or four, next year. It is indeed an honor and a privilege to be working with so many successful companies that have found how effective our approach to their problems can be. Since communication is the essence of success, and since we have so many technological advances that have been developed to distribute the messaging, we are very bullish on the future. Onward and upward with our new company.

FOUR WEEKS IN MAY

Danica Patrick proved that she is a total pro on the Indy Race car circuit with a sterling performance this year at the Indy 500. Although she finished eighth, she was within one yellow flag caution of winning the big race.
We at Bizazz Media have the story!
In a filmic study of the Rahal Letterman racing team in action, we have been able to draw the parallels between the excellence on her team and the aspirations of a Corporate team that wants to win its race.
This two DVD set will be for sale at www.enterprisemedia.com as well as directly through our website.
The first of the two DVD's, called FOUR WEEKS IN MAY, highlights the rookie as she warms up to race day. There are many lessons contained in the twenty minute DVD, from the importance of focus and determination and/or the need for practice and empowerment.
The second DVD is chaptered, and contains multple training points in each chapter, covering training, the search for excellence, attitude, motivation, winning, organization, risk/reward, and kinship. If you notice, the first letter of each of these training sections is part of an acronym for the most imporant goal of any company, TEAMWORK.

OGDEN ... IT'S ALL WITHIN REACH

Ogden, Utah, is a pearl that is still undiscovered. Only twenty minutes away from the deep powder skiing at Snow Basin, it is friendly, accomodating, convenient, and promising. The City Government is anxious for careful and controlled growth, the prices for land and houses is still affordable, and new companies and investment are on the horizon.
Bizazz Media has produced the first of five DVD's about the town. The first, called OGDEN ... "it's all within reach", focuses on three extraordinary citizens, and their opinions of Ogden. The Mayor, Matthew Godfrey, who is determined to revive downtown, the entrepeneur, Chris Peterson, who is determined to add a sky tram, or gondola from downtown to the top of Mount Ogden, and the businessman and President of Descente, North America, Curt Geiger, an articulate and skillful businessman who is determined to help attract other ski companies to the area.
The footage is beautiful, and the news about the new downtown is awesome. Send us a note and we will send you the DVD. Better yet, take a trip to Ogden ... where it's all within reach.
